The Bottled Imp - Episode 064
The End is nigh! Dark omens herald the end of all things. Great heroes must face new disasters to befall the world of Talisman from utter annihilation. Bit bleak really... but hey-ho.

The Bottled Imp takes a look at another a Talisman Revised 4th Edition expansion. This time it’s ‘The Harbinger’.

Another ‘mini’ expansion for Fantasy Flight’s Talisman, The Harbinger offers players 3 new Character Cards with corresponding detailed plastic figures, 1 mysterious Harbinger Card with corresponding detailed plastic figure, 2 Alternative Endings Cards, 75 Harbinger Cards, 10 Spell Cards, 10 Terrain Cards and 32 Omen Cards.

Talisman as we know it is coming to an end. The Harbinger is the bearer of an ancient prophecy that foretells the end of the world. The main elements to this expansion are the Harbinger Cards, the Omen Cards and the Terrain Cards.

There are plenty of new, horrid monsters ready to rip your face off, new Objects (both Magic Objects too) to aid you in your quests, Events to shift the status quo, Strangers who may hinder or help you, Followers who will gladly lend there help, and lots of new Places to discover, all aptly themed and all within the 75 Harbinger Cards.

Beware the Omen Cards. These contain four Prophecies. None bring good news but all will affect the lands across Talisman. But be warned. If the Omens run dry, Hell will pour forth and none shall win!

The Terrain Cards will constantly change the landscape of the Outer and Middle regions. Once a Terrain Card is placed on a board space, the original text on that space is no longer in play. Instead, characters must follow the new text on the Terrain Card. Change is inevitable!

The 3 new characters represent the forces of Good, Evil and Neutral. The good Celestial, the evil Possessed and the neutral Ascendant Divine are perfectly themed for The Harbinger Expansion. All come with their own Special Abilities and detailed plastic figures.

Also in the small box are 2 new Alternative Endings Cards. I’m not going to spoil these for you but let’s just say, they are all very different and add that extra layer of strategy to be victorious!

But just who is the mysterious Harbinger? Well, if you encounter him you’ll have to dice with fate. Roll high and the rewards are kind, roll low and time is running short for the world.

Please note: You will need Talisman Revised 4th Edition from Fantasy Flight Games to play The Harbinger Expansion.
