Varalakshmi Vratam is a significant festivals of Hindu women celebrated in the honor of Goddess Lakshmi. On the day of vratam, the married women observe fast and pray goddess Varalakshmi to receive her blessings. Godess varalakshmi is herself a manifestation of Goddess Lakshmi. The word Varalakshmi is "bestower of boons". Varamahalakshmi vratam is observed on the second Friday or on the Friday just before Poornima (full moon) of Shravan month. It corresponds to the months of July or August on the English calendar.

Married women observe this sacred Varalakshmi vratam to receive the divine blessings for the entire family. As per the Hindu scriptures it is a strong belief that worshiping Goddess Lakshmi on this auspicious day is equivalent to offering prayers to Ashtalakshmi - the eight Goddesses of Love, Wealth, Strength, Peace, Fame, Pleasure, Earth and Learning. This vratam can be observed by everyone, irrespective of the caste and creed discrimination.

There are no strict rules for observing this vrat. The rituals are not rigid and even a simple prayer is enough to appease Goddess Varalakshmi. We have tried to do this in a miniature style. Hope you will enjoy this. We will do our best to add to your wonderful memories.
