Sri Lankans believe that the water collected at the diya kaepima (water-cutting) ceremony is sacred and to touch this water or to bathe in it is considered particularly efficacious to remove evil. Therefore people collect at a spot just below the site of water-cutting to allow the sacralized water to touch their half-naked bodies already immersed in water. This is especially true of the water cutting ceremonies at Kaduwela. The water-cut­ting ceremony at the Kelani Ganga is particularly interesting because it is shared both by the Buddhists and the Hindus.

The First "Gonpita Perahara" Of The 211th Annual Esala Festival Of Historical Kadudevola Siddha Rankadu Paththini Devalaya Was Successfully Proceeded in The Devala Premises. The annual Esala Perahera Mangal of the historic Kaduwela Rankadu Pattini Temple located in Hewagam Korale in the Kelani River Valley was held for seven days throughout 2023 and ended in the noon Perahera Mangal on (2023.08.13). Diya Pankale, Vishnu Devabharan and Pattini Devabharan in the Perahera Mangalla The 'Kotte Raja' elephant belonging to the Kotte Raja Maha Vihara was performed by the 'Mian Raja' elephant and the 'Sinha Raja' elephant belonging to the Elephant Pattia of Sri Dalada Palace, Kandy and all the elephants in the Perahera Mangalla. 16 people participated and the Perahera festival was embellished with Sabaragamu and new dance elements. The Pagent Proceedings Were Carried Out By Performing Rituals And Ceremonies In Honor Of Goddess Paththini Under The Supervision of Mr. Kularathne Wijethunge.

කැළණි ගං මිටියවතේ හේවාගම් කොරලයේ පිහිටි ඓතිහාසික රන්කඩු පත්තිනි දේවාලයේ වාර්ෂික ඇසළ පෙරහැර මංගල්ලය 2023 පවත්වා (2023.08.13) අද දින දහවල් පෙරහැර මංගල්ලයේ නිමා විය. දිය කැපීමෙ චාරිත්‍රය උදෙසා පෙරහැර පිටත්ව යාමට පෙර විහාරයට ගොස් බුද්ධ පූජාව හා පත්තිනි, විෂ්‍ණු හා රිට්ටා දේවාල වලට ගමන් තේවා සිදු කරයි. හේවිසි නාද මධ්‍යයේ දේවාභරණ සහිත පෙරහැර දිය කැපීමට දේවාලයෙන් පිටත්ව දේවාලයේ දිය රණකෙළි මංගල්‍යයේ දිය කැපීමේ චාරිත්‍රය කැළණි නදියේ බුලත්ගම්පත සීමාවේ දී සිදු කෙරෙන අතර ඔරුව තුළ තිර රෙදි වලින් ආවරණය කෙරූ කොටසක් තුළ දී මෙම චාරිත්‍ර ඉටු වෙයි. ශ්‍රී සත්පත්තිනි සළඹ හා දේවාභරණ රැගත් බස්නායක නිළමේ තුමන් ඇතුළු පිරිස දේවාලයට අයිති තොටුපළින් ඔරුවට ගොඩව හේවිසි නාද මධ්‍යයේ කැළණි ගඟේ බුලත්ගම්පත සීමාවේ දි පුරාණ චාරිත්‍ර විධි එලෙසම ඉටු කරමින් දිය කැපීමේ චාරිත්‍රය ඉෂ්ට සිද්ධ කරන ලදී. දියකපා ගොඩ වන ස්ථානයේ දි දෙනු ලැබූ දේව දානය බියගම වෙළඳ ව්‍යාපාරික හර්ශන දීප්ති කුමාර මැතිතුමන්ගේ ව්‍යාපාරික ස්ථානයේ දි සිදු කෙරිණි.
