Tres Zapotes had more than 150 mounds, numerous pyramid structures, artificial terraces, megalithic monuments, and modified natural features. It was a late Olmec site dating from 1000 BC onwards before being completely abandoned. Two colossal Olmec heads were found, the earliest known 'calendar stone' and remarkable megalithic statues, now on display at the local museum, which we explore in this video. The overgrown site is now out of bounds to tourists, but we investigated it and looked closely at the remarkable stone platforms of the site, some still half-buried in the ground. Includes exclusive aerial footage and 3D scans.
