Описание к видео Bamburgh Castle - The Last Kingdom - we discover the real Anglo -Saxon fortress

Bamburgh castle is an iconic fortress overlooking the North Sea on the rugged coast of Northumberland. Its history dates back to the 6th century when it served as a Saxon fort. Originally the capital of the kingdom of Bernica, it became a target for both the Vikings and Normans thanks to its strategic importance. Today it stands as a symbol of English heritage, thanks to the restoration works of the Armstrong family, as well as being the setting for the Netflix hit The Last Kingdom, based on the Bernard Cornwell novels following Uhtred of Bebbanberg during the reign of Alfred the Great, as Vikings and Anglo Saxons fought to control England...

With special thanks to the Bamburgh Research Project. Their remarkable dedication and expertise has greatly enriched our knowledge of this historic site. Thank you for sharing this with us and the world :)
