"It's Not Unusual" - #tomjones - (bass tab & cover) - FRANKS BASS COVERS

Released: March 1965 from the album Along Came Jones (It's Not Unusual)

The Song
written by Les Reed and Gordon Mills,
first recorded by a then-unknown Tom Jones as a demo
his first hit in the United States, peaking at No. 10 in May of that year.

Jones recalled: "I did the demo on this song when it was being offered to Sandie Shaw. I was just starting out and, God bless her, she said: 'Whoever's singing this, it's his song.'

He sang the song twice in 1965 on The Ed Sullivan Show in New York City, on 2 May and 13 June. He did it again on 21 April 1968

The theme song of his late 1960s–early 1970s television musical variety series, “This Is Tom Jones”

Jones was awarded the Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 1966 and has sold over 100 million records.

This song is used several times in the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. It usually is played as Carlton (Alfonso Ribeiro) dances to it in a humorous manner.

The Band
The musical arranger was Les Reed. Although the guitarist has been cited as #jimmypage of Led Zeppelin. Reed has said the only guitarist was Joe Moretti

As was standard practice in the 1960s, session musicians were used instead of Jones's regular backing band.

There are conflicting reports about who actually played on the record, but the most likely candidates are:

Tom Jones – vocals
Joe Moretti – guitar break
Jimmy Page – lead guitar (POSSIBLY)
Vic Flick – guitar
Andy White, or Ronnie Verrell, or Alan Grahame
Stan Barrett – percussion
