INDIA THAR DESERT
The Thar Desert also known as the Great Indian Desert. About 5,000 years ago Indus valley civilisation lived here.
About 90% of the Thar Desert is in India, and about 10% is in Pakistan.

In India, more than 60% of Thar desert is in Rajasthan, also small areas in Punjab, Haryana, and Gujarat.

Rajasthan means "The Land of Kings"
Jaipur is the Capital of Rajasthan
Jaipur is called as "The Pink city"
The city is painted in pink to welcome the prince of Wales Pink and queen victoria .
pink is a traditional colour of hospitality.
Monuments and Architecture made Jaipur an UNESCO world heritage site

Jodhpur

Thar desert contains the historic city of Jodhpur which was founded in 1459.
Jodhpur "The Blue City"
The Brahmins of the city painted their house blue in order to differentiate themselves from others.

Udaipur "The White city"
The marbled palaces and the silver lake made it the white city.

Jaisalmer named The Golden city Because yellow sand used in the building given a yellowish golden shin to the city.

Jantar Mantar
Means instruments to measure heaven
It is an astronomical observatory.
Built in 1729 by King Sawai Jai Singh.
Jantar Mantar is a stone sundial that was built to collect astronomical data. The structure uses the position of the sun and the direction of the shadows to tell time in the ancient days.

Keoladeo National Park

Famous bird sanctuary with 350 migratory and resident birds. It is the largest bird sanctuary in India.
A formal royal game reserve for the kings of Rajasthan.

Forts of Rajaasthan

The Six majestic forts of Rajasthan are Chittorgarh Kumbhalgarh; Sawai Madhopu Jhalawar; Jaipur, and Jaisalmer.

Kalbelia

It is a folk dance of Rajasthan.
In 2010, the Kalbelia folk songs and dances were declared as UNESCO's Cultural Heritage of Humanity


Goomar Dance

It is a traditional folk dance of Rajaasthan .Tribal people performed it to worship Goddess Saraswati and is performed at weddings, festivals, and religious occasions.
The dancers move in circles in a gentle and graceful manner.
