Perkin Condensation | Organic Chemistry

The name of Perkin Condensation reaction is named after an English chemist William Henry Perkin, who discovered and reported this reaction in a journal in 1868

This type of reaction occurs with aromatic aldehydes and of the aliphatic acid anhydrides having α-hydrogen atoms
It gives alpha-beta unsaturated carboxylic acid
