Sonny Stitt - “Eternal Triangle” Transcription

Here is a celebratory video on 10 years of my continued studies on this beautiful instrument (saxophone). This is by far the hardest, most demanding solo I’ve transcribed yet, and what I’m taking from it is language, the art of bebop articulation, rhythmic diversity/creativity, and just the approach of how he plays everything. It’s so in your face and I love it! I feel it is a perfect match and benchmark to look back at in the future. I started playing the saxophone in August of 2012 and I never thought or imagined i would be able to play this if you showed me a video of me playing it in the future. There’s obviously a couple of stuff I could’ve done better but this was Take 4 and I did like 7 more takes after and none were as focused and disciplined as this one throughout the entire solo. I love jazz. I love stitt’s approach to the music and I hope to continue my career on the saxophone and I am blessed and appreciate everyone who has invited me to play with them over these last 10 years.
