1908 Edison Standard D Combination Cylinder Phonograph with Horn and C + H Reproducers

Описание к видео 1908 Edison Standard D Combination Cylinder Phonograph with Horn and C + H Reproducers

Edison's Standard phonograph was introduced in 1898 and for the next 16 years went through eight modifications. Model D came out in October 1908, at the same time the first 4-minute cylinders hit the market. This "Combination Standard" played both, 2-minute gold-moulded black wax and 4-minute black wax Amberol cylinders, with the help of a switchable gear cluster and by using two separate reproducers, models C and H for the two speeds. Model H even plays well-behaved 4-minute Blue Amberol celluloid cylinders, introduced in 1912 for the Amberola series. My phonograph is in mint condition, with original 100% pinstriping on the chassis, and an authentic refinish of the oak cabinet and script decal, the original undamaged "Change of Reproducers" slip in the lid, and both uncorroded reproducers rebuilt to perfect playing condition. An original 14" witch's hat horn is included, but the buyer has privilege to upgrade the horn to a flower Morning Glory or Searchlight horn, both with crane as pictured. The buyer can also upgrade the two reproducers with a model O combination type reproducer, mounted in a horizontal cygnet carriage. The first of the two cylinders you will listen to is included in the sale. Many more cylinders of both speeds are available on request. The phonograph will be for sale on eBay.

Red Wing Lyrics:

There once was an Indian maid,
A shy little prairie maid,
Who sang all day, a love song gay,
As on the plain she'd while away the day;
She loved a warrior bold,
This shy little maid of old,
But brave and gay, he rode one day
To battle far away.

Chorus:
Now, the moon shines tonight on pretty Red Wing
The breeze is sighing, the night bird's crying,
For afar 'neath his star her brave is sleeping,
While Red Wing's weeping her heart away.
[Chorus:]

She watched for him day and night,
She kept all the campfires bright,
And under the sky, each night she would lie,
And dream about his coming by and by;
But when all the braves returned,
The heart of Red Wing yearned,
For far, far away, her warrior gay,
Fell bravely in the fray.
[Chorus:]
