Italy: A Trenord Class E464 electric loco (number E464 333) departs from Milano Lambrate on the 1408 'S9' suburban service from Albairate to Saronno. For an unknown reason the train appears to make an emergency stop as it leaves the station, but is soon on its way again. Also seen towards the end of the clip is loco E464 409 departing on the rear of a set of double-deck Vivalto coaches, presumably on a service to Milano Centrale. Recorded 26 March 2022.

Lambrate is a district (quartiere) of Milan, Italy, located within the Zone 3 administrative division, six km (3.7 mi) north-east of the city centre. It owes its name to the Lambro river that traverses the area. Lambrate houses one of the major railway stations of north-eastern Milan, the Stazione di Milano Lambrate. The district is also well known for Parco Lambro, a large urban park established in 1934. The famous Lambretta motor scooter was manufactured in Lambrate, and named after this district, as is Birrificio Lambrate, a craft brewery established in 1996.

Trenord is a railway company which is responsible for the operation of regional passenger trains in Lombardy. The company was established by the two main railway companies in Lombardy, Trenitalia and Ferrovie Nord Milano (FNM), to manage train operations in the region. The equity is equally divided between the two companies.
Trenitalia LeNord (TLN) was founded in Milan on 4 August 2009 from the merging of LeNord, company owned by FNM, and the Lombardy regional division of Trenitalia.
The first step of the new company was the opening of a new maintenance and cleaning center for trains in Lombardy, the biggest in Italy.
Trenitalia and LeNord rented their Lombardy regional trains divisions to the company on 30 October 2009 for 11 months. After this trial period the rent was extended to the end of 2010. After this date, the rent was again extended twice to 31 March and finally to 1 May 2011, when the company was renamed Trenord.
The last agreement included also the Trenitalia control over TiLo and the EuroCity service by LeNord in partnership with DB and ÖBB, all merged into the new company.

The E.464 is a class of Italian railways electric locomotives. They were introduced in the course of the 1990s for hauling light trains, especially for commuter service. They were acquired by FS Trenitalia to replace the old E.424 and E.646, dating from the 1940s and 1950s. The class was originally designed by ABB Trazione, later ADTranz (now part of the Bombardier group), and produced in the Italian plant of Vado Ligure.
Cost per unit is 2.6 million Euro. With 717 locomotives currently in service (as of December 2015) the E.464 is the largest class in use by Trenitalia, and also the most numerous Italian locomotive class ever in service.
The E.464 derives from a project launched by the Italian Ferrovie dello Stato in the 1980s for a "modular" class of locomotives which would be easily adapted to commuter, inter-regional and cargo services. Initially, types with 4-axle (Bo-Bo, E.453/E.454) and 6-axle (Bo-Bo-Bo, E.665/E.666) were devised, the latter for cargo services. However, the E.666 class was cancelled due to availability of the new E.652 Tigre class, capable of hauling massive cargo trains. Moreover, the new inverter technology was developed in those years, and the E.454 became suddenly obsolete.
In 1994 FS requested ABB to design a new class which, to save money, was to be based on already built prototypes and using parts from the new E.412 from the same producer. The first batch of 50 E.464 was issued to the Lazio regional government in 1999-2000, and proved immediately successful. Further orders for 90, 100 and 48 units followed in 2001-2005, plus another 100 in 2006-2007, another 100 in 2009, another 50 in 2011, and, finally, another order of 29 locomotives on November 2013: a total of 717 locomotives, and an investment of over one billion Euro.
After years of regional use, the 29th of August 2019 the first two units from a group of 70 were used to haul a long-distance Intercity train between Messina and Siracusa, in Sicily. Sicily is the first italian region to get E464 for long-distances train, because in this region this locomotives have to replace the older ones of E656’s class, but in the future E464 will be used to haul Intercity Night trains all around the country, because of their ability to reduce operating costs, thanks to the permanent use of 2 units together, creating a reversible train.
