"California Blue" is a song written by Roy Orbison, Jeff Lynne and Tom Petty. According to Orbison historian Marcel Riesco and his research on "The Authorized Roy Orbison," Orbison recorded the song in April 1988 at Mike Campbell's garage in Los Angeles. "California Blue" was released on the album Mystery Girl, in January 1989. This song also charted at #51 at the Billboard Country Music Charts, according to Hot Country Songs by Joel Whitburn. Chart entry date, 06/24/1989.
