We would like to take a moment to recognize and congratulate Intensive Care Unit (ICU) RN Corey Cruce, who is one of our most recent Daisy Award winners at HCA Florida North Florida Hospital.

Ashly Thomas nominated Corey for the DAISY award due to the outstanding and compassionate care he provided for her family member. Ashly, a nurse herself, was so moved by Corey's actions while caring for her loved one in their final days, that she wrote the DAISY nomination below. When she learned that her nomination lead to Corey's DAISY award, she drove 14 hours from her home in Little Rock, Arkansas to read it to him in-person during his awards ceremony. One of the most moving quotes from Ashly's powerful and moving nomination was, "I've never quite met a nurse like him, and I'm a nurse myself. He maintains complete professionalism while also providing patients and families with grace, compassion, understanding, empathy, warmth and love. He is truly one of a kind, and will hold a special place in all our hearts forever."

Corey, what you do every day is absolutely extraordinary, and definitely exemplifies the DAISY Award. Congratulations Corey, we are so incredibly fortunate to have you as part of our family at HCA Florida North Florida Hospital.
