Burton "Lucky Dog" Richardson demonstrates how to apply the snake disarm in live stick fighting through both instruction and fight footage.

Many people claim that it is impossible to perform disarms in actual fighting. They say that the disarms of the Filipino Martial Arts only work against a cooperative opponent. But, I have achieved many live disarms in stickfighting tournaments and in hard sparring at full speed and resistnce. The trick is to get into position where the opponent's stick slows enough that you can apply the disarm. This requires timing which can only be achieved through sparring!
