MIB Agents' Executive Director Ann Graham was invited to President Biden and First Lady Dr. Jill Biden's Cancer Moonshot at the White House on September 23, 2022. Leading experts in the field of pediatric oncology were present and shared update to several initiatives aimed at increasing research and improving outcomes for kids with cancer.

It was 2016 when then Senator Biden launched an initiative called Cancer Moonshot to decrease death by cancer. My hope was that pediatric cancer got a seat at the table. My further audacious wish was that I could be a part of that initiative, representing the kids I was treated with in 2010/2011, and whom I along with MIB Agents serve today. SO much has happened since that wish in 2016, and so much more still to do.

Being an adult in treatment for a pediatric cancer, and being the only grownup on the pediatric cancer floor, gave me a unique 360 view of the desperation of doctors who needed more treatment options for very sick kids, families in emotional and (and often) financial crisis, and patients who faced cancer with hope, courage, grace - and a despair they revealed to no one, except a fellow patient, however grown up she was.

Moonshot felt tantalizingly close, yet as distant as the moon itself; Until last Friday. President Joe Biden & First Lady Dr. Jill Biden invited childhood cancer clinicians, researchers, and advocates to The White House to discuss what is being done, and what is to come to help Make It Better for pediatric Cancer. The assembly of experts was humbling and inspiring!

May this be the start of something transformative; may we maintain the focus and collaboration that was clearly in play until we get to Better! We can get there, we must get there. Together we will #CauseACure!
