You can get an E2 visa by investing in almost any type of U.S. business, but here are two of the best ones to consider:

1. The U.S. Version of Your Foreign Business

If you’re an entrepreneur who’s run a successful business abroad, why not leverage your experience and expertise to do it in the United States?

Just establish a new company in Florida or another U.S. state and invest in that.

2. A Franchise

Franchises are turnkey business opportunities. It doesn't get much easier than that. You just need to find one that's right for you.

Keep in mind that, regardless of whether you decide to invest in a U.S. startup or a franchise, you must be from one of about 80 E2 “treaty” countries—including Canada, the UK, Germany, Sweden, Finland, Poland, and many more—in order to be eligible for an E2 visa.

You must have a business that's open or ready to open before you submit your application.

And you must have invested a “substantial” amount - typically at least $100,000 - in your U.S. business.
