Moto Guzzi 'Calisportia' LeMans 1100

'Calisportia' 4th start, now re-jetted.
My 1977 Moto Guzzi 850 T3 California now with a 2003 Moto Guzzi V11 Sport LeMans 1064cc engine, modified to fit the Tonti frame and running Dellorto Phf36 carburettors from a LeMans 850 (Mk1) in place of the V11 sport efi.

Last night I jetted up the idle and profession circuits of the old mk1 LeMans carbs.
The carbs were jetted to suit my T3 small valve 844cc motor, and I could tell from the popping and spitting during start number 3, and the fact that I had to wind the idle mixture screw out about 3 or 4 turns, that I needed to richen up for the 1064cc big valve sport motor.
Last night I fitted atomisers ab268 in place of the ab265s and went up to idle jet 60s from the 55s I had in there for the 844 motor, it was an informed guess, having re-jetted many Guzzis from T3's to 1100 sports before, and it certainly sounds happier now, it started easily, settled to idle within seconds as soon as I screwed the idle mixture screws out half a turn each from my start point of 1.5 turns out to 2 turns out, and just balanced by ear.
So far it sounds almost spot on.
No more spitting or back firing and I haven't even put the velocity stacks back on yet!
I will leave it as it is until I've done plenty of road testing, and then I might find I need to fine tune further.
Also as you can hear with the sport cam and very light clutch I no longer needed the quick action throttle which really helped the small valve 844, it revs plenty quick enough now even with the slow action Daytona 2c, so the quick action set up is available for anyone who wants to liven up their 850/1000 🙂
For anyone interested in my settings, motor is a standard V11 sport Lemans (apart from changes to fit the Tonti frame), carbs are early phf36s, home trimmed slides started as 60/3 now 50/3, needles k5 clip in bottom groove and a 1mm washer to raise them further, 10g floats, ab268 atomisers, 60 idle, screw 2 turns out, 132 mains, pump jets 38, pump adjusters a long way out for a big shot.
