What most people believe about being, "born again" is different from what the Bible actually teaches. This is of great concern because if we are not following the Bible our hope of heaven is in jeopardy and hell is horrible. The new birth refers to the moment a person become saved. The primary denominational position is salvation by faith only and a Catholic view is salvation by infant baptism. We affirm that these views run counter to scripture. Regarding the Catholic view the Bible requires one to understand the gospel before baptism (Mt. 28:18-20; Acts 8:30-40; etc.). Thus position is unscriptural. Anyone baptized in this way should rethink their salvation. The, "faith only," position does not consider the necessity for obedience (Acts 10:48; Heb. 5:8-9; Mt. 7:21; Jn. 14:15; 15:13-14; 1 Jn. 2:3-6; 5:3). But how does the "New Birth" fit into this discussion?

The Catholic view regarding the new birth is teaching is not needed and the denominational view is that it is an act of God alone. Nothing is required. The truth regarding the new birth is that it is tied to Jesus' Sonship and our being children of God (Gal. 3:24-28). This video explains how Jesus became the Son of God and how we become children of God and why. This is a simple concept and can be proven by reading 2 or 3 passages of scripture but in this video the idea is developed more thoroughly.
