When should you apply Essential Oils? When you're feeling stuffy or congested and want to breathe relief!

This recipe is for an Essential Oil chest rub that can feel so relieving if you’re stuffy or congested for any reason, such as a cold, sinus congestion, allergies, or any other respiratory discomfort you might have. I call it the “Breathe! Chest Rub.”

It’s made with four essential oils that smell soft and soothing together, and are all gentle on skin. Three of the four essential oils are distilled from resins, and you can always trust essential oils made from resins to be supportive for skin and deep breathing.

Make your blend in a 2 oz (60 ml) bottle of jojoba (Simmondsia chinensis). (0:50 You can measure 2 oz/60 ml of jojoba, but you don’t have to. Just fill your bottle most of the way up, leaving a little room for the essential oils.)

Then add your essential oils:

10 drops Elemi (Canarium luzonicum) (1:03)
10 drops Frankincense (Boswellia carterii) (1:46)
5 drops Myrrh (Commiphora myrrha) (2:06)
5 drops Cedarwood (Juniperus virginiana) (2:37)


Close up your bottle, give your essential oil chest rub a gentle shake, then massage it into your chest, shoulders, upper back, upper arms, throat, and anywhere you feel it would nourish you.

The final step is to take a deep breath and feel your congestion start to break up!
