Ominous shadows: the lives of Hossein and Soraya in the clutches of Hojjat Shayad

Hossein, a small boy from a nomadic family, lives in a vast and beautiful nature of Iran, yet his life is not devoid of pain and suffering. His world, along with his mother, Soraya, is heavily influenced by Hojjat, a deceitful and ill-natured man. Hojjat's reprehensible and perilous actions have cast a dark shadow over the lives of Hossein and Soraya.

Soraya, a resilient and compassionate woman, strives to create a better life for Hossein. Like other nomadic women, she is familiar with the hardships of life and is capable of enduring difficult work. However, Hojjat’s presence—a man who resorts to anything for his personal gain—has turned her life into a nightmare. Hojjat’s threats regarding registering the deed of their car and home in his name loom over them like a heavy shadow.

Soraya is determined not to succumb to this oppression and stands firm against Hojjat with all her might. She understands that if she allows Hojjat to fulfill his demands, not only her own life and Hossein’s would be at risk, but their future as well. In the midst of these tensions and challenges, Nasibullah, Soraya’s elder son, supports her, trying to uplift her strength and determination.

In this chaotic environment, Hossein longs for the comfort and love of his family. He remains immersed in his innocent childhood while the world around him crumbles. Hossein dreams of returning to their nomadic tent someday and once again experiencing happiness.

Meanwhile, his mother Soraya continues to seek hope, attempting to create a space for Jeni, their pet, and her puppies. This symbolizes hope and life amidst the challenges they face, as if nature itself is showcasing its ability to heal the wounds of their lives.

Soraya knows that through perseverance and family support, she can overcome the difficulties and build a better life for Hossein. Their story is one of fighting against oppression and striving to maintain human dignity, shedding light of hope even in the depths of darkness.
