In today's informative video, Dr. Puru Dhawan answers an important question: Can a person who has been paralyzed, have a stroke again?

Can paralysis come back?
Yes, it's possible. If you've been paralyzed once, there's a higher chance of it happening again.

Why does it happen again?
Well, people who've had paralysis before are more likely to get it again because the reasons behind their paralysis are still there. If those reasons aren't taken care of, paralysis can happen again.

How can you stop it from coming back? Here are two key things:

- Keep an eye on your blood pressure and sugar levels. If your paralysis was caused by high blood pressure or sugar, you need to keep managing them.
- Don't stop taking your medicine. Even if you feel better, don't skip your BP or sugar meds. If you stop, your chances of getting paralyzed again go up.

Why does paralysis happen in the first place?
The main reasons are high blood pressure and high blood sugar. There are two types of paralysis strokes: one where a clot blocks a blood vessel in the brain, and another where a blood vessel bursts.

How do you recover from paralysis?
After a stroke, the brain starts to heal itself, but it usually stops after 6 months. If you're not fully recovered by then, you'll need medicine and exercise to help your brain keep improving.
