Two 1970 Camaro's go head to head in a quarter mile drag race. One is a small block, the other a big block, so who wins?

Both cars are competing in the Pure Stock Drags, so modifications are limited to minor porting, blue printing and minor weight reduction without altering the stock appearance. That means stock intake manifold, stock exhaust manifolds and street tires.

The 1970 Z28 is powered by Chevy's infamous solid lifter, high winding small block 350 cubic inch (5.7 L) LT1 which was rated at 360 horsepower and 392 lb-ft of torque. The 1970 Camaro SS 396 is super rare (only 600 built) since it's powered by Chevy's potent, solid lifter, high winding big block 396 cubic inch (6.5 L) L78 which was rated at 375 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque.

360 and 375 horsepower doesn't sound like much today; however, in 1970, these cars with minor mods were menaces on the street in 1970.

The SS396 is equipped with GM's Turbo 400 automatic transmission whereas the Z28's LT1 is backed by a Muncie 4 speed. So WHO WINs?
