Introduction:
Finally, the day has arrived! It's the summit day of our Black Peak Expedition 2024.
On Day 10, we started our ascent at 2 AM, embarking on a 3km journey from Camp 3 to the peak. Tied securely to ropes and guided by our head torches in the pitch dark, we began our climb.
Halfway through, I had to turn back due to breath issues at an elevation of 5600m. Along with the high-altitude cook, I descended back after witnessing the most breathtaking sunrise ever. Meanwhile, my team took around 7 hours to summit the peak and return to Camp 3.
Though I felt a bit disappointed, I enjoyed the descent, sliding down instead of walking. We kept an eye on the peak, eagerly waiting for our teammates. After a few hours, we moved to Camp 1, and the weather started to turn bad.
By evening, Camp 1 was flooded with snow. We were lucky to have experienced bad weather only before and after the climb, but not during our journey.
