https://mrc.fm/cmyt Is this the best podcast & video studio setup of 2025?
After 30 years in audio production, I’m finally unveiling my ULTIMATE home studio gear upgrades – packed with next gen devices to level up podcasts, YouTube videos, and live streams. If you’re searching for the best podcast setup 2025 or building a YouTube setup for beginners, this covers all the equipment you’ll need (and what I’ve ditched from my 2024 rig)!
In this video, I’ll tour my 2025 studio setup built for podcasters, YouTubers, streamers, and content creators. Meet the star of the show: the new Rodecaster Video – an all-in-one video switcher + audio mixer console that’s revolutionizing my workflow. Bye to a complicated setup! This single device lets me record live to a 2TB SSD (no post-editing delays), switch scenes on the fly, and stream in broadcast quality. I even downsized from the bulky Mackie DLZ Creator to the sleek Rodecaster DUO for dedicated audio control – same pro quality in a smaller package perfect for a home studio.
For microphones, I’m using the legendary Electro-Voice RE20 for daily content. It’s so clear and camera-friendly that I prefer it over my pricey Neumann U87 for YouTube and podcast recordings. (Don’t worry, the Neumann U87AI isn’t gone – I still use that mic for voiceovers, running through the Apollo Twin X interface to get that rich, professional sound when it counts!). The RE20 sits on a low-profile RODE DS2 stand that stays out of the camera shot – clean audio and a clean look.
On the video side, I’ve set up Sony Alpha a6300/a6400 mirrorless cameras with Sigma lenses to capture crispy 4K video for both my talking-head shots and B-roll. To stay on script without ever looking off-camera, I’ve mounted an Elgato Prompter (a teleprompter with a built-in screen) right above my main lens – it doubles as a handy secondary monitor for notes or Twitch chat. I even repurposed a Raspberry Pi monitor as a compact multiview display, so I can keep an eye on all my video inputs and audio levels at a glance. Talk about an efficient use of space!
Studio workflow upgrades: 2025 is all about working smarter. I’ve integrated an Elgato Stream Deck to automate my studio – one tap can change lighting, trigger effects, or start recording, hands-free from OBS hassles. The Mac Studio M1 is the powerhouse driving it all, effortlessly handling multi-cam recording, editing, and streaming. And thanks to the SanDisk 2TB Extreme PRO SSD, I record everything at high speed with zero lag. This means I can produce content in real-time and publish faster than ever.
What do you think of this 2025 studio? Did I miss any must-have gear? Let me know what gear you’re using (or dreaming of) in your setup! Drop a comment with your 2025 studio wishlist.
