Описание к видео The Future of Metro Manila: Benjamin de la Pena at TEDxDiliman

Given all its problems as a megacity - traffic, floods, overpopulation - many people are asking, "Is there a future for Metro Manila?" Benjamin de la Pena gives some hopeful thoughts in this engaging and informative talk, not just on Metro Manila, but on the development and transformative role of cities, in general.

Benjamin de la Peña is Associate Director for Urban Development at The Rockefeller Foundation where his work centers on addressing the challenges of urbanization and urban poverty, reforming transportation policy, and encouraging innovation in the social sector.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
