Comparing Rotary and Vibratory Tumblers

This week I talk more about tumblers, their media and how to use them with your 3D printed parts. The key point is never run a media dry unless the paperwork tells you otherwise! The water is critical to keep the media lubricated and also draws away the material that gets rubbed off the parts. Change your water every 24 hours when tumbling in ceramic so that it stays clean and effective. Stainless requires water to be changed after each batch but not required mid-way through.

Tumblers shown are:
Thumblers Tumbler UV-45 vibratory tumbler. Retail is about $620 and this thing is built like a TANK! I got mine used.
Thumblers Tumbler AR-12 rotary tumbler. Retail is $160-180 and it is also pretty ruggedly built. I use mine for days on end without issues.
