How to get there:
Driving is the easiest way to get to Thredbo. If you drive up there, you have to pay the National Park entry fee into Kosciuszko National Park of $29 per day for each vehicle.
All 2WD vehicles must carry snow chains in winter, between June and October long weekends.
The access road is relatively easy and not at high elevation, still, you should pay attention and drive carefully as they can be icy roads.

You can park at Friday Flat car park - Thredbo’s main parking zone - or designated parking areas along the Friday Drive.

Thredbo runs a free shuttle bus to take you around the village.

Toboggan & snow play:
There are no toboggan & snow play areas at Thredbo. If you want, you can try the Dead Horse Gap Track about 2km away from Thredbo. We have a separate video about Dead Horse Gap, check it out if you’re interested. Alternatively, you can go to Perisher Valley which has a dedicated toboggan and snow play area.

Ski
Thredbo is home to the country’s longest runs, almost double the amount of vertical than any other resort, and Australia’s only alpine Gondola.
Skiing here includes some steeper fall line long groomers ideal for strong intermediates, some proper black runs, and overall it has more diversity of terrain and is more picturesque.

Friday Flat is a dedicated beginner area, with a gentle slope for learners to progress with confidence. Once you’ve mastered those turns, ride Merritts Gondola up to the Cruiser area for beginners and intermediates.

Advanced skiers and boarders can ride the Kosciuszko Express Chairlift to tackle the advanced black runs like Cannonball, Bluff, and Little Beauty - and the longest run in Australia at 5.6kms, the Crackenback Supertrail. Hitch a ride on the Karels T-Bar to the highest lifted point in Australia. For an adrenaline hit, brave the Funnel Web, one of the toughest runs at Thredbo.

Lift tickets:
Thredbo lift tickets and season passes are more expensive than at Perisher.
You can buy single-day or multi-day lift tickets. A full-day lift pass provides mountain lift access for skiing and snowboarding at Thredbo. Single-day lift tickets are about $99 for children and $189 for adults.

Lessons:
Ski and snowboard lessons are available throughout the season. You can book 2-hour lessons for adults and 3-hour or full-day lessons for children at Thredbo. Private lessons are also available. You have to purchase ski lift passes separately. Lessons are booked online and can be sold out very fast during peak periods like school holidays, you should book lessons well in advance.

Equipment hire:
There are plenty of snow sport rental stores at Thredbo for your convenience. You can also try the rental stores in nearby villages like Jindabyne or Cooma to keep the costs down.

Accommodation:
There are many options for Thredbo accommodation including hotels, lodges, apartments, and chalets. There are other facilities for families with children or for a non-skiing time such as a tennis court, picnic area, skate park, and playground.

Staying at Thredbo is convenient to get to the slopes but is quite costly.
Alternatively, you can stay in the nearby town Jindabyne. It's 33km from Perisher and has a wide range of accommodation, including camping, and facilities such as restaurants, a supermarket, and rental stores.

Resource facilities:
Thredbo village is vibrant with shops, restaurants, and bars. It also has a bakery, chemist and even a supermarket for all your needs.
