A shocking revelation has come out in the latest report by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) — Google Pay has not yet implemented the Fraud Risk Indicator (FRI) tool developed by the Indian government to identify and prevent online payment scams.

According to the report, 1 in every 3 UPI transactions in India is unsafe, raising serious concerns about digital payment security. The FRI tool was introduced to flag risky or suspicious transactions, but Google Pay has failed to integrate it so far, unlike other platforms such as PhonePe and Paytm.

Authorities are now urging payment platforms to strengthen their fraud detection systems to protect millions of digital users.
