Old Town Phuket DIY THAI STREET FOOD BREAKFAST TOUR 🌶🍜 Best Dim Sum / Khanom Jeen - ฝรั่งกินอาหารไทย

Today I want to take you to Phuket Old Town for the quintessential southern Thai breakfast of Dim Sum and Khanom Jeen. This has got to go down as one of the best DIY street food tours I’ve given you - these two stops are amazing!

Phuket can be a bit overwhelming if it's your first time as it's so big, so I thought I'd do some videos to help break it down into sections so you can get some awesome street food wherever you go.


First we stopped at Nom Jeen Phuket - หนมจีนภูเก็จ ร้านขนมจีนภูเก็ต for some, as the name suggests, khanom jeen or fermented fresh rice noodles with curry. I tried the Nam Pu (crab), Nam Ya (fish), Kang (mantis shrimp) , Gaeng Neua (beef curry) and the Gaeng Tai Pla (spicy fish kidney curry). All were absolutely fantastic but my favourite would have to be the beef curry, it was amazing! The chicken was cold but well flavoured and the Hor Mok (steamed fish curry) was amazing. Nom Jeen Phuket is hands down one of the best khanom jeen shops I’ve been to.

The curries here are a staggeringly cheap 40 baht - £0.90 / $1.20

Next I headed for another classic Phuket breakfast of Dim Sum. Most locals in Phuket will tell you that Boonrat Dim Sum is the best dim sum shop in Phuket town and I’m not going to argue! I went to Boonrat Dim Sum 2 but you can go to any.

I had Moo Cap Pu (battered pork and crab sausage), Khanom Jeeb Pu (Sui Mai with crab), Khanom Jeeb Koong (sui mai with prawn), Giow Rad Prik (dumplings topped with shrimp paste chilli sauce) and Kraduk Moo ‘Sauce’ (stewed ribs in chilli). All were absolutely fantastic, the only thing I’m not mad keen on here is the chilli sauce.

Everything again came to a whopping 138 baht which is a ridiculously cheap £3 / $4.10.
