BMW i3 - how to clean fuel pump relay

Описание к видео BMW i3 - how to clean fuel pump relay

This video documents my project to check, clean, and reinstall the fuel pump relay on my 2014 BMW i3.
Thanks to a video uploaded by @bmwi3diy, I had great info to help me get started and check my relay.

Here’s the relay I later bought on Amazon for $22 back in August of 2022:

The relay seemed to work fine but I went ahead & installed a brand new one later on.
It was months before I had another issue, during which time I coded the car so I can manually turn on the Rex any time.
One night I was a half mile from home with over 10% charge remaining and I lost all ability to accelerate.
I manually turned on the Rex using the hold state of charge menu, it fired right up and once I let off the accelerator for a second, then when I pressed the gas again I was able to drive home normally on the Rex.

Once I parked and shut off the car, the battery % dropped several points instantly.
SO, I think I have a battery health issue that’s showing up at lower state of charge - not reporting correctly.
Most likely that’s what happened the other times as well, after driving 45 minutes at highway speed the battery was too low but the system didn’t realize it was actually below 6% to engage the Rex automatically.

Now I turn it on manually when I think I’ll need it, and never trust the guess-o-meter below about 15-20% state of charge.
