Philippine president witnesses destruction of smuggled luxury vehicles

(30 May 2018) Over a hundred contraband motorcycles were destroyed on Wednesday by the Philippine Customs Bureau in compliance with a directive issued by President Rodrigo Duterte to dispose of seized smuggled luxury vehicles.
The haul was worth more than 640-thousand US dollars and included a Harley Davidson, two Triumphs and a BMW motorcycle.  
Duterte was there to witness the destruction and during a speech afterwards, he announced he was firing a deputy commissioner of the Customs bureau for excessive travels.
Duterte, who is a motorcycle enthusiast, also added, "When the excavator crushed the Harley (Davidson) it's like I also got hit in my neck. What a waste."
In February, the customs bureau destroyed 20-high end vehicles worth more than a million US dollars.
