Hike To Bike MTB -Haute Savoie french alps Flaine

Another epic downhill mountain bike video from our trip to the "Haute Savoie" in July 2012 :-)

This was our last descent on the very last day- all in all we spent 9 hours on the bikes using the chairlifts and gondolas to make a tour around the "Grand Massif" combining 5 Ski areas. we had to pedal uphill for some 300 meters to get to Flaine to get to the "Grandes Platières" - a rock plateau giving great views of the Aiguilles Rouges and the Mont Blanc Massif. We ended up with some 6000 vertical meters downhill...

We went the other side towards the "chaine des Fiz" and the "chalets de sales" but after a stop-and-go over rocks/snow/grass we got to a couloir named "la barme froide" - nice to ski down in powder conditions in wintertime but in summer it´s a steep and rocky passage with no paths whatsoever so we had to carry down the bikes for 300 altitude meters obviously :-(

after the chalets it was one of the greatest descents I´ve ever done on a bike full of flow despite the technical (roots, rocks, steps...) conditions...
