We traveled to Kenya to document how PEPFAR—the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief—has transformed the fight against HIV/AIDS.

HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) attacks the body’s immune system. Without treatment, it can progress to AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome), which leaves people vulnerable to infections and cancers that can be fatal.

PEPFAR has helped provide lifesaving medication, testing, and support services to more than 25 million people in over 50 countries. But right now, Congress is considering severe funding cuts that would dismantle much of this progress.
