Performing live in Wembley Arena, London 2003. CHIC is an American disco and R&B band that was formed in 1976 by guitarist Nile Rodgers (1952) and bassist Bernard Edwards (1952-1996).

It is best-known for its commercially successful disco songs, including "Dance, Dance, Dance" 1977, "Everybody Dance" 1977, "Le Freak" 1978, "I Want Your Love" 1978, "Good Times" 1979, and "My Forbidden Lover" 1979.

In 1980, they produced the album "Diana" for Diana Ross, yielding the smash hits "I'm coming out" and "Upside down" (0:02). It remains Ross' best selling album.

"We Are Family" (4:29) and "He's the Greatest Dancer" (1:58) were also written by them, and recorded by Sister Sledge for their 1979 breakout album "We Are Family".

The song "We Are Family" eventually went Gold, becoming the number one R&B and number two pop song on the US charts in 1979. The song have been sampled, remixed, and reissued through the 80's, 90's and 2000's.

Nile Rodgers and CHIC continue to perform to sold-out venues worldwide.

CHIC has been nominated for inclusion in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame five times—2003, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009.
