Officer Machitar was killed in a fiery crash as his patrol vehicle was broadsided by a juvenile who was traveling at 90 miles an hour in San Diego. The juvenile was also killed and Officer Machitar’s partner, Zachary Martinez, was in critical condition but attended the Memorial Service. This journalist was able to speak momentarily to Officer Martinez.

Police officers, Sheriff, Fire, and EMS from South Bay to San Diego to San Jose were in attendance.
