Embrasure Doors: Harmon Hinges, Magnet Catch, and Drop Ring Pulls

An embrasure door, as is illustrated, is a jib (or concealed door) both in its opened and closed positions.

In high end residential architecture common uses are in the hallway leading between a primary bedroom and bathroom, or dining room to kitchen. Think a space that normally you are comfortable with it operating as a hallway but occasionally want to seal it off.

A Harmon Hinge (our favorite is manufactured by Accurate Lock and Hardware) allows the door to pivot around the door frame into another frame perpendicular with it, accomplishing the embrasure door look. Notice in the video that the back hinge edge of the door is scooped to allow free movement.

Magnet Catch provides a secure and convenient way to keep doors closed without the visual interruption of a strike.

Drop ring pulls pivot and allow the door to be pulled or pushed, yet lay flat against a wall with only minimal projection.
