Digital twins is an emerging technology in healthcare. Digital twin technology refers to a digital replica of a physical object, assets, processes. In this case a replica of a human, body parts, organs (such as liver, heart...) or systems (such as digest systems, blood flow...).
There is a strong believe and promise for preventive healthcare in terms of optimizing healthcare and making healthcare more efficient and this on both sides, from a medical professional perspective as well as from a citizen/patient perspective. Christel beliefs it could turn our healthcare system into a care focus instead of cure. In this talk she focus on the patient /citizen side of this technology. Its design opportunities and challenges, elaborating on the ethical ramifications and policy design in a data-driven healthcare environment.
Christel De Maeyer is a technology industry veteran with over 30 years of experience. As a lecturer, researcher, and PhD candidate, Christel’s work focuses on behavior change through technology. She is also a member of the Peace Innovation lab at Stanford University, and her applied research in Personal Informatics or Quantified Self has given her unique insights into the usage of wearable sensor devices in healthcare.

Christel’s passion for innovation and her commitment to studying the ever-changing dynamics of the tech industry make her a pioneer in her field.
