Flying in France - Taildragger Ground Loop at Calais Airport- EuroFox 912IS " I Hate Tarmac "

Experienced Taildragger Pilots say “ its not if you gunna ground loop, its actually more like when”…

The first day of our trip to France, and our first stop was Calais. The wind was from a north-westerly direction of around 7kts to 8kts, and a little blustery to fair.

I had already had two attempts to get her on the ground, however, I just couldn't seem to square the landing away, as things just kept getting out of shape.

My anxiety was rising, which wasn’t helping my flying ability, I’m not embarrassed to say the outcome really shook me up, but thanks to the guys on tour, who calmed me down.

For the remainder of the 7 day tour, I did managed to fly and land safely, at all the airfields, even Calais on the return trip, without fault.

On my return to the UK, i booked a full days training with an instructor to undergo cross wind and landing on tarmac runways.... i will post this as soon as i have completed it.
