Social inequality is not just a problem for the government — it’s a problem for all of us, says student speaker Ye Yint Phone Pyae. In this eye-opening talk, Ye Yint discusses Myanmar’s ingrained social inequality problem and shares insights he’s gained through community service in order to instigate positive efforts in addressing this problem. Ye Yint is the cofounder of Youth Charity Organization Myanmar (YCOM), an organization with a mission to address communal issues in Myanmar whilst helping young people get more involved in community service. Since its founding, the organization has grown to over 30 members, and has carried out many projects focusing on education, water sanitation, health, and environmental issues. He believes that people have the responsibility to help those in need especially when they have the capability to. In a country such as Myanmar where many prevalent communal issues are in need of being addressed, Ye Yint hopes to inspire more young people to take action and spark positive change. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
