Part 6 of our Welsh home cinema installation documents a milestone moment in the project. The room build is now complete. While final programming and seating are still to come, the physical space, wiring infrastructure, lighting design and projection system are now fully in place, allowing the room to finally reveal its character.

This update focuses on the finished interior and the design decisions that shape how the cinema feels as a space, not just how it performs. The walnut bar becomes a central architectural feature, carefully lit with Collingwood luminaires to draw out the warmth and depth of the timber grain without overwhelming the room. Lighting here is deliberately restrained, supporting atmosphere rather than spectacle.

Control has been thoughtfully integrated using a wall mounted iPad on a LaunchPort, alongside Reiko modular keypads finished in antique brass. These tactile details are chosen to complement the red, gold and black colour palette rather than disrupt it. At this stage the system is not yet programmed, but the control architecture is fully installed and ready.

Acoustically, the room balances visual interest with functional intent. The wave pattern MDF detailing adds texture and depth to the walls, while custom MDF backed lighting channels and DCW Éditions wall lights introduce layered illumination that enhances the room without introducing glare. Black Velcro wrapped skirting boards provide a clean, shadow free transition at floor level.

The projection system is now installed, featuring the Epson LS12000 paired with a three metre wide screen. With the lights dimmed, the room immediately takes on its true cinema presence, demonstrating how critical lighting control and surface finishes are to perceived image quality. Even before final calibration, the space already feels cohesive and immersive.

This episode also marks a pause point. A subwoofer and final seating are still to come, including an Infinity Seating Path lounger and a sofa arriving in January. When those elements are in place and the system is fully programmed, we will return with a final walkthrough and performance focused update.

This project has been as much about interior design as it has been about technology. Creating a cinema that feels beautiful, comfortable and intentional is just as important as specifications on paper. This room is a strong example of how thoughtful lighting, materials and layout elevate the entire experience.
