Alexander Scriabin - 2 Impromptus, Op. 14

Описание к видео Alexander Scriabin - 2 Impromptus, Op. 14

Scriabin’s 2 Impromptus, Op. 14, is the last such pair in his oeuvre. The pair of Impromptus were written while Scriabin was a client of Belyayev’s publishing company.

Both pieces exhibit the fading ghost of Chopin’s gentle touch. The second Impromptu, in particular, is interesting in that the downbeat of the left hand has an offset that makes it coincide with the latter two-thirds of the last upbeat. Shortly before the conclusion, the piece enters its middle section in which the tempo and meter changes to that of a slow waltz. An extremely short recapitulation follows and in it, a new top voice delivered via quadruplets is added onto the existing compound meter melody.
