VW Golf Mk6 glovebox removal

Описание к видео VW Golf Mk6 glovebox removal

Video giving some help on how to remove the glovebox from a VW Golf MK6. I don't show the actual removal because I had my hands full, but hopefully there's enough here to get you started OK. In addition to what's shown in the video I recommend removing the climate/heater controls. This is quite easy. You'll need to use trim tools to remove the surround (it comes off easily with four clips) and then remove 4 T20 screws.

The controls have 3 plugs on the back on mine. These are tricky if you've not seen them before. There is a red locking T shaped piece on each plug which locks not the plug itself but the clip which holds the plug in (it's harder to write down than it is to remove these - sorry there's no video of this bit). These need to be pulled up. You can then press on the locking clip and remove the plug.

The reason for removing the controls is that when you put the glovebox back, the tab witth the screw hole which goes underneath the heater controls (see video) will bang up against the controls and scratch them and generally make reassembly more tricky. The extra work to remove the controls is well worth while. Actually, the correct procedure would be to remove more of the centre console at the bottom (where the bottom edge of the glovebox slides in). This would make reassembly easier also but is quite a bit more work.
