Of Great Place was an essay by Francis Bacon that was added in the second edition of his Essays published in 1612. In this essay, he describes the delicate situation of persons who hold authority and powerful offices. He says that a person of authority is a servant to the state, fame and business. He explicitly says that it is not easy to attain power and authority and often people have to compromise on their morals while trying to attain success. However, in this process, they lose their own self.
Bacon mentions the qualities a good authority person should have and how he should always self analyze rather than worrying about what others think about him. He mentions the four vices every person of a great place must keep away from.
In the end, we have added some important quotations of Francis Bacon. Students preparing for UGC NET English and GATE English literature, TGT PGT English and PG TRB English exams should keep these quotes in mind as they can be directly asked in the exams.
