This is Daft Punk’s dad, his music & his life, a deep dive. Daniel Bangalter (Aka Daniel Vangarde) His son is Thomas Bangalter, Thomas is half of Daft Punk (if you didn’t know). Daniel made music too, this is my remix of his song "Le Tango Me Fait Pleurer" It translates to "The Tango Makes Me Cry". He left the music industry in the early 90's. Thomas credited Vangarde with showing him how the record industry worked and helped Daft Punk in the early stages of their career. Vangarde was acknowledged in the liner notes of Daft Punk's album "Homework" for providing "precious advice" and in "Discovery" for concept and art direction.

Daniel Vangarde founded his own record label "Zagora Records" in 1975. "Because Music" effectively owns the Zagora catalog through an acquisition in 2022. What is Daniel doing now? He currently lives in Caraíva, a remote coastal fishing village in the state of Bahia, Brazil where he moved in the late 2000s. He is a founder of “CaraivaViva” a charity providing arts based education to local children.

Daniel's other ventures - Pizzaria do Daniel: A popular local pizza spot known for its thin-crust pizzas. Pousada: An inn/guesthouse for travelers visiting the remote coastal village. A local store selling a curated selection of sunglasses, clothing, and beach accessories. A beauty product operation was part of his store until it was officially shut down by Brazilian health authorities in August 2021. His property serves as the hub for his various activities.

He married Thérèse Thoreux, a ballet dancer who later became a mosaic artist, introduced to him by Vangarde's sister. They had one son, Thomas Bangalter, in 1975. Thérèse Thoreux passed away in 2001.

Thomas rarely visited Vangarde's studios, with Vangarde commenting… "If he (Thomas) had been into music, Daft Punk would not have existed. He would have been in the studio with me and he would have learned how to produce music and how to do music the normal way."

Daniel Bangalter was born in 1947.
