Why are suicidal burns are more common in our society, unlike in the West? Why are they more common in women? Are our women not strong enough to face the social circumstances? If so why the increased incidence of burns due to social and marital causes? If not why can’t they be encouraged to learn to face and solve their problems? This talk is an attempt to address all these questions. Dr. Lakshmi Saleem is a trained and qualified plastic surgeon practicing since 1984. She along with her husband has opened a hospital, SALAJA, with the motive of helping people who cannot afford expensive medical procedures. She has published more than 25 scientific papers in National and International conferences. She is the author of the first book ever written in India on Cosmetic Surgery. She has shared her life experiences in her autobiography "DREAMS, DETERMINATION AND TRIUMPHS".
