How to drive fuel efficient on motorway during rush hour

If there is lots of cars on the motorway and lines arent moving the posted speed limit speed. Usually its more fuel efficient to stay on the right line. You can see from the video that left line is only slightly faster, but they accelerate and brake all the time which wastes lots of fuel. You cannot keep good safety distance on left lane because people start to flink their headlights and toot their horn. They are in a hurry to next tailside collision...

When the gaps between cars start to be 300 meters or more its wiser to move to the left lane if you want to drive faster. Now you can drive the speed you want and there is not so many cars on the lane that brake all the time so you can predict what will happen when you reach the cars in front of you.

I usually pass the same cars that went by me after next five to ten minuts when they drive the posted speed limit and I usually go much faster when there is no traffic to slow me down.
