Strathpeffer Highland Gathering, Castle Leod, Strathpeffer, Ross-shire, Scottish Highlands - 08/2015

Castle Leod is situated near the beautiful village of Strathpeffer (a popular Victorian spa resort) in the Highlands of Scotland. It is the seat of Clan Mackenzie and since 1979 The Earl of Cromartie who lives at this stately home has been Chief of the Clan. This area of northern Scotland is well-known for its 'Highland Gatherings where a miscellany of marvellous activities take place all at once and Lord Cromarty hosts an annual event at his seat. This video shows snippets of competitions to find the best pipers, and highland dance-troupes along with traditional highland sports including hammer throwing, tug-o'-war and tossing the caber. To conclude there is a procession of Members of Clan Mackenzie from all over the world before their Chief led by the local Ardross pipe band.
