Key Details of the New Ration Card Initiative
Application Period
Applications for the new ration cards will be accepted from December 2 to December 28, 2024.
The process will be open to newly married couples and families requiring changes to their existing cards.
New Features
The new ration cards will include:
Family member photographs
A QR code for digital access
An eco-friendly design featuring the government emblem instead of individual politicians' images
Issuance Timeline
The distribution of the new ration cards is scheduled for January 2025, with the aim of completing the process by February 2025.
Objectives and Benefits
The initiative is designed to streamline the distribution of essential welfare benefits, ensuring that all eligible families have access to necessary resources such as food supplies. The Civil Supplies Department plans to issue approximately 150,000 new ration cards to eligible residents while also reviewing existing applications.
Currently, there are over 336,000 pending applications for various changes related to ration cards, including splits and additions of family members. The government is focusing on eliminating unused or outdated cards to optimize resource allocation and reduce financial burdens associated with maintaining inactive accounts.
Application Process
Applicants can submit their forms through:
Village/Ward Secretariats: In-person applications can be made at local secretariats.
Online: Applications can also be submitted via the AP Meeseva Portal.
