"SOFT" SKILLS IN PHYSIOTHERAPY PRACTICE WITH WILL KARELSEN

Описание к видео "SOFT" SKILLS IN PHYSIOTHERAPY PRACTICE WITH WILL KARELSEN

Today I had the privilege of sitting down with, the one and only, Mr. Will Karelsen to discuss the importance of "soft" skills in physiotherapy practice.

Will is a registered physiotherapist at JD Physiotherapy (@jdphysioclinics) in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. Throughout my first year at Queen's University, Will taught me in a number of courses, including foundational clinical skills, muscle and joint function, spinal disorders, and professional practice.

Will is very passionate and well versed in all aspects of physiotherapy, and most importantly, is just an all around class act.

If you're a current or future physiotherapy student, you're definitely going to want to have a listen to what he has to say during this interview!

Questions:
3:20 - What are soft skills and why are they important to have as physiotherapists?
9:58 - What advice would you give to both future and current physiotherapy students right now on how to develop soft skills?
17:20 - Do you have any general advice for future students who want to pursue physiotherapy in this day and age?

Here is a summary of Will's general advice:
(1) Identify the strength of networking
(2) Have realistic expectations of your first year out in the field; you'll be starting at ground zero again!
(3) When you start out, be opportunity-oriented as opposed to being career-oriented
(4) Take care of yourself as a clinician
