Here I demonstrate a Kent Moore Harley Davidson rod lap. Simply an adjustable commercial standard barrel lap. I am using the traditional Clover Compound that is silicon carbide that breaks down to finer grains as it is used. I describe using the lap wet with compound for fast cutting, and letting the lap become drier to finish the part and reduce bell mouth.
The common choices for lapping heads is cast iron, copper, lead and other soft metals Cast iron is best for an adjustable lap that can adjusted back down.
